The Venom of a Brazilian Spider – a Future Remedy for Impotence?
Nature never gets tired of giving us new surprises. I have recently read an amazing thing about a, so called, new way of erotic stimulation and can't wait now to share it with you. It is not a secret that Brazil can boast about its rich fauna and flora. One of the numerous Brazilian spiders (a venomous spider!) is famous for its ability... to stimulate men's erection. But I'll disappoint you - it is not an only side effect! A bite of this spider is very dangerous and a rather long erection is a side effect alongside with the pain and discomfort.
I don't know whether this discovery will give us a new effective treatment for erotic dysfunction or our impotence drugs, such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra, will remain the only one really effective treatment for a long time. But I know that some medical colleges in the USA become interested in the components of the spider's venom. Moreover, there were some tests made on rats. I know that many people disapprove of scientists who experiment on animals. I don't relish this idea too but it has been the only one way so far!
How does it work
Well, experiments with rats showed that the venom of our spider do really increases blood flow to blood vessels inside the penis. There also an increase of nitric oxide was reported within corpora cavernosa. Where did it come from? The fact is that Viagra, Cialis and Levitra work in a different manner - they block the formation of PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type 5). So the mechanism of action of the spider's venom is as follows: a bite stimulates erection and the brain senses this. Some neurons produce nitric oxide. This chemical actually signals to the body that erection is starting. And some biochemical reactions begin producing an enzyme named cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which relaxes the smooth muscles of the cylinders in the penis. The blood can flow in.
Well this discovery is believed to become a very useful one. Who knows when... Moreover, some medics are sure that it is possible to combine some components of the spider's venom with existing erectile dysfunction drugs and get new effective and useful medicines for impotence (even much more effective than Viagra, Cialis or Levitra!). Why not? Nature abhors a vacuum! We'll wait and see. I very nearly forgot! The name of this spider is Brazilian Wandering spider!
