Herbal Remedies - to Take Or Not to Take?
TweetThere exists an opinion that herbal remedies are the best way to treat impotence. You must have met such proposals in great quantity in the Internet, asserting that Yohimbe or arginine can arrange your impotence in a moment and that these remedies are created by the nature, therefore they are absolutely safe for men. Well, toadstool is created by the nature too but it is poisonous!
Let's discuss the most popular herbal remedies. Here you are some information about some of them I have collected not only from the Internet but also from my acquaintance who works as therapeutist. He said that there were cases of fatal outcome because of some herbal remedies. The hard fact is that people dealing with herbal remedies often take liberties with them while the same people stay tuned while taking drugs. Whereas some people say that herbal remedies are created by the nature, the sellers and manufacturers of them even do not get FDA approval! But these remedies as well as drugs can produce side effects. And overdosage of herbal remedies can lead to very harmful effects. It is slippery on a slope, as they say! That's why you should know about the real situation around herbal remedies.
Well, let's start from Yohimbe. This well-known remedy is derived from the bark of a tree which grows in West African. Even the smallest doses of this preparation cause dizziness, nervousness, insomnia, and nausea while large doses of this remedy not only increases heart rate and blood pressure but also lead to kidney failure. Be careful!
L-arginine or arginine may cause a lot of problems connected with gastrointestinal tract. This preparation can lower blood pressure and destroy normal level of certain chemicals in our body. There have been a lot of cases of bleeding because of this remedy. Not so many men can take arginine because this medicine can cause different severe allergic reactions, including asthma.
Although ginkgo is supposed to be the safest remedy for impotence among herbal remedies, there is a risk that high doses of gingko may cause bleeding. The bleeding can appear when ginkgo interacts with vitamin E, aspirin and some other medicaments. Overdosage can even cause convulsion! In addition, the use of this remedy is contra-indicated if a person has some problems with kidney or liver since ginkgo contains colchicines.
DHEA (Dehydroisoandrosterone) is often used as a treatment for impotence. Actually DHEA is a hormonelike material and it may be very dangerous to take the remedy with other medicaments.
Be very careful if you meet the supplement named GBL (Gamma-Butyrolactone)! It is a part of such remedies as Jolt, Verve and so on. Just these so called "remedies" account for the greatest occurrence of intoxications, seizures and other life-threatening effects, including even coma.
What about well-known a phrodisiacs ? Yes, these substances can intensify sexual desire as well as improve impotence, making your sex more vivid. But there may be a price to pay for such hyperactivity because some aphrodisiacs have unpleasant or dangerous side effects. For example such popular remedy as Viramax (it contains the above-said alkaloid found in the bark of the tree Corynanthe yohimbe - yohimbine, and three herbal aphrodisiacs named maca, miura puama and catuaba) has absolutely unpredictable side effects while combining with other medications. That's why Viramax is an unapproved remedy too. It seems that it's better to turn to voodoo cult sometimes!
Yet another widely-advertised aphrodisiac (may be, one of the most popular among all aphrodisiacs) is cantharides , also called Spanish fly. This remedy is made from dried beetles (this is very uninspiring information for me!) and it works by irritating genital tract and urinary. Of course such stimulation is very dangerous since it may cause different infections and even the mouth and throat burning. Even the smallest doses of this remedy are dangerous. No one doctor can guarantee its harmlessness.
You can also meet such herbal remedies as Vinarol (it was recalled because the producers used the components patented by the producers of Viagra), and even Viagro or Vaegra. These unapproved remedies relating to herbs have nothing to do with real Viagra (either branded or generic).
Sure, it's up to you to choose the way of treatment but I'd like just to warn you against taking little-studied and not approved remedies. That can be harmful. And if you are going to use any of herbal remedies and supplements mentioned in this article - I disapprove of that decision because I prefer taking impotence drugs with safety.
